The Viking Compass bag contains about a 1/2 gallon of material. It’s a fun mix of iolite, apatite, garnet and our natural sapphire material.
Iolite, according to legend, is called the Viking Compass Stone. It’s said that thin slices of iolite served as glare-reducers and polarizing filters that helped ancient Viking navigators locate the sun on cloudy days. This allowed the Nordic mariners to pinpoint their own location on the seas. Even if the legends aren’t completely accurate, beautiful iolite has long been used in jewelry.
Apatite is thought to be a stone of learning and inspiration. It’s a fire element stone thought to be helpful for overcoming fear and turning thought into physical manifestations. Apatite is commonly used for its metaphysical ability to encourage extroversion.
Garnet: a stone of prosperity and abundance, encouraging gratitude and service to others. Red garnet gemstones were worn for protection and used as weapons by Asiatic tribes.
Treat yourself to this bag and enjoy learning a little bit of folklore legend. You’ll find some great gems and you always have a chance at finding a natural sapphire, native fossils or flakes of gold. Happy Mining!
