The material will contain a lot of clay as well as some small sticks, pinecones and debris making it very difficult to wash clean. Fortunately, when clean, the Rock Creek sapphires are usually quite gemmy, making them somewhat easy to spot. Each bag contains approximately 2 gallons of natural, unwashed, concentrated Montana sapphire gravel. The material contains a lot of clay as well as small sticks, pine cones and debris making it very difficult to wash clean. Hopefully your added time and effort will pay off. Fortunately, when you do get it clean, the sapphire from Rock Creek are usually quite gemmy, making them easier to distinguish among the base material. A difficult material to work but tends to produce sapphires that respond well to heat-treating. Complete washing instructions with photo are included to assist you through the process.
